Ohmie Privacy Policy

Ohmie is an educational app for learning electronics. This policy explains the information Ohmie and its service providers process when you use the app and when you visit the ohmie.io website.

Information we process

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate optional accounts, provide and restore subscriptions, generate requested AI tutoring responses, show the leaderboards and live play, screen and moderate board names, and review reports. We also use it to operate account deletion, maintain app security, troubleshoot failures, understand aggregate product use, measure whether our own advertising leads to installs and subscriptions, and improve Ohmie.

Service providers and disclosure

Ohmie is operated by Ohmie LLC, a New York limited liability company. Ohmie LLC uses Apple, Google, OpenAI, Supabase, RevenueCat, Superwall, PostHog, and Meta to provide the functions described above. Meta receives only the advertising-measurement events described above and, if you allow tracking, the advertising identifier; Google is used for optional Google sign-in. OpenAI processes requested AI tutor conversations and screens proposed board names for offensive content (the name text only, no account details). Superwall receives the same anonymous subscriber identifier RevenueCat uses, so it can present the correct subscription screen. These providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies. Ohmie does not sell personal information, serve third-party advertising, or use app data to track you across other companies' apps or websites.

Website analytics

The ohmie.io website uses PostHog for aggregate site analytics: page views (including when you leave a page), clicks on App Store links, and the referring site or campaign tag a visit arrives with, along with standard technical context such as browser, operating system, and device type. The website's PostHog is configured cookieless — it stores no cookies or other persistent identifiers on your device, and each page you view starts fresh. Website analytics are not linked to any Ohmie app account. PostHog's privacy policy is linked in the provider list above.

Retention and deletion

Account information is retained while your account exists and as needed for security, fraud prevention, legal obligations, and limited backup or operational-log retention. Purchase records may also be retained as required by Apple, RevenueCat, tax, or accounting rules.

Ask Ohmie conversations are not saved to your Ohmie account. They disappear from the app when the chat session ends. Ohmie sends stateless OpenAI requests with persistent response storage disabled. OpenAI may retain prompts and responses in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, or longer when required by law or necessary to prevent harm. The same OpenAI retention applies to a board name you submit for screening: only the name text is sent, and Ohmie does not keep it beyond the result.

The synced progress record is retained while your account exists and is deleted automatically when the account is deleted.

Leaderboard entries are kept while your account exists so that the current and past weeks can be shown. A chosen board name is kept until you change it, switch back to a generated name, or delete your account. Live-play challenge and battle records are kept while your account exists. Reports about a name are kept for our review and are deleted when the reporting account or the reported account is deleted. Deleting your Ohmie account deletes your leaderboard entries, your chosen board name, your live-play challenge and battle records, and the reports you filed or that were filed about your name. It also discards the board identifier stored on your device, so a new generated name is created if you use the leaderboard again.

You can delete an Ohmie account in the app without buying or maintaining a subscription:

  1. Open Profile → Account → Delete Account while subscribed, or tap Account on the subscription screen.
  2. Follow the confirmation steps. Sign in with Apple accounts require a fresh Apple confirmation when available.

Deletion takes effect right away and the app confirms it; RevenueCat's copy of your purchase record is deleted in the same step.

Deleting an Ohmie account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Manage or cancel the subscription separately in Apple's subscription settings; canceling stops the next renewal and keeps access until the current period ends. Refunds are handled by Apple, not by Ohmie: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com, and write to support@ohmie.io if something went wrong and we will help where we can. You may also remove Ohmie under Apple Account → Sign in with Apple in device Settings.

Local learning data that remains on a device can be removed with Ohmie's reset controls or by deleting the app.

Your choices and rights

You can ask for a copy of the information connected to your Ohmie account, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to how we use it, or ask us to send it to another service. Write to support@ohmie.io and we will respond as quickly as we can, and within the time the law allows. These requests are free. You can also ask us to restrict how we use your information while a request is open. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you can complain to your local data protection authority (for the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). You can also delete your account and its synced progress at any time in the app, change or remove a chosen board name in the app, and turn off tracking permission at any time in iOS Settings.

Ohmie LLC and its providers are in the United States, so your information is transferred to and processed there. Where European or United Kingdom law applies, we process your account, subscription, synced progress, leaderboard entries, live-play records, and the board name you choose because they are needed to provide the service you asked for. We rely on your consent for tracking permission, which you can withdraw in iOS Settings. We rely on our legitimate interest (a legal basis) in keeping Ohmie safe, secure, and working for name screening, report handling, security logs, and aggregate analytics. For the transfer to the United States we rely on the standard contractual clauses in our providers' data processing terms and, for the account and subscription you asked us to provide, on the fact that the transfer is necessary to deliver that service to you.

Children

Ohmie is written for beginners, but it is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The app does not ask for your age. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, write to support@ohmie.io and we will delete it.

Security

Ohmie uses encrypted network connections and limits privileged account-deletion and OpenAI credentials to server-side functions. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed completely secure.
